CML Material Fines

Fines for books and materials borrowed from the CML

 

  • Laptops (in house use only), $10.00 an hour

  • Camcorders & digital cameras, $10.00 a day

  • Books, $2.00 a day

  • Kits $10.00 a day

  • Maps & Globes & Posters $7.50 a day

  • Puppets $10.00 a day

  • Big Books $10.00 a day

  • A fine of $50.00 or more or any billed items on a patron record will prevent any checkout transaction from taking place.

All fines are to be paid at the Library’s main Circulation Desk

Elibigble borrowers

  • Borrowers must have their University ID with them in order to check out CML library materials.  If the University ID is not configured to be used as a Library Card, the main Circulation Desk will configure the card so it will check out materials.
  • Borrowers are responsible for returning or renewing all items charged out on their cards.
  • All persons who have outstanding library bills will be denied borrowing privileges.

Checking Out and Returning CML Materials

Charge-out procedures for books                                    

  • All books to be borrowed are checked out at the CML Circulation Desk.

  • Borrowers must have their University ID with them in order to check out CML library materials.

  • In the event that the CML Circulation Desk is not staffed books can be checked out at the main Circulation Desk.

Charge-out procedures for CML Materials that are not books

  • All non-monographic CML materials such as cameras and kits can only be checked out at the CML Circulation Desk.

  • Borrowers must have their University ID with them in order to check out CML library materials.  

  • Circulation attendants at the library’s main Circulation desk will not check out these items.                       

Laptops                                    

  • If they are not being used for a class in the CML, laptops are available for checkout.

  • Borrowers must have their University ID with them in order to check out CML laptops.

  • University ID's will be held at the CML desk while the CML laptop is checked out.

  • Laptops must be used in the CML.

  • Laptops can be checked out for three hours.

  • Laptops can be renewed if there are no scheduled classes in the CML and if no other patrons are waiting to check them out.

  • Laptops cannot be reserved for use.  Laptops are only available on a first come, first served basis.

  • The intentional downloading of unauthorized software is forbidden.

Returning Books

  • Borrowed CML books should be returned to the CML Desk.

  • If the CML Desk is closed, CML books can be returned at the main Circulation Desk.

 Returning CML Materials, other than books

  • Borrowed CML materials such as kits and cameras should be returned to the CML Desk for check-in.

  • CML materials may be returned directly to the CML staff at the CML desk during CML operating hours.

  • Any borrowed CML materials such as kits or cameras that are returned at the main Circulation Desk instead of the CML Desk will not be checked in at the main Circulation Desk. User fines will accrue until the item is retrieved by CML staff.

Search Requests & Recall Books

Search Requests

  • Searches for books not found in the stacks or on the temporary book shelves may be requested by completing a book request card at the Circulation Desk.  When the book becomes available, it will be held at the Circulation Desk for ten days and the person requesting it will be notified.

Recall Books

  • Books that are checked out may be requested by  another URI patron. When a book has been recalled, it must be returned to a staff member at the Circulation Desk by the due date on the recall notice.
  • A fine of $3.00 per day is charged for overdue recalled books.

Flip Cameras

To provide a reliable charge for Flip Cameras, the cameras will be powered with triple A batteries. The batteries are stored in the case with the cameras. Install the batteries before each use and take them out at the end of each use.

Loan Types

Loan periods for CML materials are governed by type of material and status of the borrower. The loan period for a particular item is displayed in Libraries Search when you have signed into your library account,

 



 

 

CML Location Notes

Posters are located in Room 116 on 3 shelves of the Map Case. (These posters have an "Alma External Location Name'- the name that displays in Primo of - CML Media)
