Getting Started

Welcome! In order to find Spanish language and literature resources it is a good idea to start by searching for books.

A few suggested searches that you can use are: Spanish literature and Spanish fiction. To further narrow down your search you can also add history and criticism, women and literature or other limiters like 17th Century or 19th Century.

It is also useful to limit your search to items written in Spanish and this can be done before an initial search or during your search. Before a search all you have to do is select "Spanish" under the "Languages" drop down menu or during your search you can select "Spanish" under the "Languages" heading.

For assistance you can call the CML Reference Desk at 401-874-4004, or you can visit the Curriculum Materials Library website and use our chat reference service or our email reference service.

Finding Books

The Library has a few resources that would help you find relevant books on your topics:

  • HELIN Catalog
The HELIN Catalog covers academic libraries across Rhode Island, but does not include Brown. Because the libraries are close by, requests for books only take 2-3 business days for delivery. You can also visit and check out books from most of these libraries.
  • InRhode Catalog
The InRhode Catalog is the link between the HELIN Catalog and Brown University's JOSIAH Catalog. You can see what Brown has and request books from their libraries using this Catalog. Requests take 2-3 business days.
  • WorldCat
This is a catalog of books and other materials in libraries worldwide. You can request materials using URI's Interlibrary Loan service. Book requests outside of Rhode Island can take up to a month for delivery, so please plan accordingly.
