What is Scientific Data?

Scientific Data

Scientific data is defined as data commonly accepted in the scientific community as of sufficient quality to validate and replicate research findings, regardless of whether the data are used to support scholarly publications. For more information on what is included or excluded from scientific data, see the NIH Research Covered Under the Data Management & Sharing Policy.

Scientific data is governed by the FAIR Data Principles, a set of research standards to promote the sharing of data. The FAIR Principles ensure that research data is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.
