URI Communication Disorders Research & Resources
Here are some of the amazing Communicative Disorders resources we have here on campus!
- URI Speech and Hearing CentersThe URI Speech and Hearing Centers provide comprehensive clinical services, both at the Kingston campus and our Pawtucket facility. The centers offer a broad range of speech-language and hearing services to clients of all ages, who receive treatment from qualified professionals, with the assistance of trained graduate students in speech-language pathology and audiology.
- Aphasia Book ClubFor any person with Aphasia interested in being part of a group that reads and discusses books together. The group reads a book a semester, and discusses the content; various supports are provided to facilitate your reading.
- Hearing loss Education and Aural Rehabilitation (HEAR)For any person in the community with hearing loss who would like to learn coping strategies and meet others with hearing loss. The group focuses on education regarding hearing loss, communication strategies, and hearing aids and assistive devices.
- Collaborative Cognitive Neuroscience LabThe Collaborative Cognitive Neuroscience Lab (CCNL) at the University of Rhode Island is comprised of researchers within the College of Health Sciences, including Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, and Communication Disorders. The group is committed to working with scientists within CHS as well as other disciplines and partnered institutions to investigate neural mechanisms associated with cognitive health across the lifespan.
- Processing and Acquisition of Language in MultilingualsThe College of Health Sciences Processing and Acquisition of Language in Multilinguals (PALM) Laboratory at the University of Rhode Island works to better understand first, second, and dual language and literacy development across the lifespan focusing on linguistic and neurocognitive processes.
- URI Student Speech Language Hearing AssociationURISSLHA is URI's Student Speech Language Hearing Association. This student organization is open for all undergraduates and graduates with a Communicative Disorders major. They do social networking events and build career development. You get to come to events where you hear from local SLP's, Audiologists, and graduate students.
