This 4 volume set covers a wide range of topics in the realm of entomology. Topics range from biographical entries on noted entomologists to types of pesticides and, of course, many entries covering individual species. Entries range from several pages to short blurbs and may be accompanied by black and white drawings or photos. Entries often include cross references and, for longer ones, references to other sources.
While this encyclopedia also includes entries on insect species, it also includes information on behavioral terms, methods used in entomology and even folklore. Articles are generally multi-page, include photographs and/or other supporting illustrations and suggested further reading. A good source to use in conjunction with the Encyclopedia of Entomology.
Includes entries on species and a broad variety of entomological terms with brief etymological explanations of Greek and Latin based terms and cross references when appropriate. Includes two appendices; one is an alphabetical listing of journal titles and the second is a bibliographic list of sources for finding common names.
