Finding Articles

This guide will lead you through the steps for finding articles.

Full Text Access

Some databases (but not all!) will include a direct link to the full text of the articles they index. Once you've found an article you want to read, click on the article title and look for buttons that say PDF Full Text or HTML Full Text - clicking on either of these links will bring you to the complete text of the article.

If you don't see either of those links, look for a link to Search @ URI Libraries - this will run a search for for the article in other databases that URI subscribes to as well as in URI's print holdings. The Search @ URI Libraries button will bring you back to URI's library catalog where you'll need to follow the links in the "View It" section of the record.

Saving Your Article

Once you've found the full text for a useful article, make sure to either download and save it, email it to yourself, or copy a stable link

Database links from the address bar are not permanent - if you try to use them to get back to your article later, you'll get an error message. You should either copy the DOI (if the article has one) or copy the persistent link (also called a "permalink", "stable URL", or "durable link") to make sure you can get back to the article later.

If you're not sure which link to save, reach out to a librarian or check in with us at the Research Help Desk!
