Reserves

Reserves

The Reserves collection contains material designated by university faculty as high-use or required readings for specific courses. Items on reserve for a course may include books, and special items loaned by faculty. A number of high-use items unrelated to specific courses are also located on reserve.

This purpose of this guide is to

  • Provide eligible borrowers with information regarding Reserves policies & procedures.
  • Provide faculty with the procedures for submitting items for Reserves.

Accessing Reserves Print Material

Items on reserve are listed in the URI Libraries Search.

Items listed in the catalog can be searched by course name or number or by instructor. 

To access print materials on Reserve, use the Course Reserves link on the University Libraries home page.

In the search box, type your course code or course name (for example, HIS 311 or History of Europe since 1914).

You will see a screen that lists the materials on Reserve for your course.

To check out the item you need, write down the title (for example, A History of Europe in the Twentieth Century) and the item’s call number (for example D424 .B76 2004 or HIS 311 Personal). Give this information along with your library card (your URI ID) or your Special Borrower’s Card to the staff at the Circulation Desk.
