Maps and other cartographic material such as nautical charts are extremely useful in field work.  The Library has a small collection of print maps for Rhode Island and the other New England states.  The maps include those covering topographic, hydrologic, and geologic features.  The maps collection is housed in the Government Publications area.  Historical maps for Rhode Island are housed in the Library's Special Collections department.  The Library also collects nautical charts in print for the waters of the East Coast and the Gulf of Mexico.  They are housed at the Pell Library on the Bay Campus.  For assistance in using the map collections, please contact the Info and Research Help Desk
