Overdue Books

There are no fines for the majority of the materials in the Library.

Exceptions

• Recalled books.  Recalled books are fined at $3.00 per day.
• Reserve books.  Please refer to the Reserves page that explains the fines for those items, https://uri.libguides.com/reserves/print
• Study Rooms.  Study Rooms are fined at $10.00 per hour. 
• Whiteboard Markers.  Whiteboard Markers are fined at $10.00 per hour.

Billed items

Any material not returned nor paid for within six weeks of the due date will be listed on your record as a billed item.  A billed item on your library account will result in the suspension of your borrowing privileges and an Enrollment Services Sanction.  The Enrollment Services sanction will prevent you from graduating.  Enrollment Services Sanctions will be removed only when an item is returned or paid for or replaced.

Payment or Replacement

• A lost or damaged book replacement fee is $100.00. The fee for a DVD is $50.00.  The fee for a lost Study Room or Carrel key is $60.00.
• Cash, checks or money orders are accepted for payment of fines. 
• Replacements for books and DVDs are always welcomed, provided, the item is the same edition as the one being replacement and is not damaged in any way (in regard to books, that does include notes and high-lighting).
